If I had to travel by ship back in this time period I would be a man instead of a woman. Because of the hardships that were faced by the captain and his crew. It was already stated in the story that woman and children wasn’t allowed too travel. That was the first hint that if you had to travel by boat you should know right off hand which gender you would want to be. If the trip was a short distance then it probably wouldn’t matter. Traveling to the new world from Spain is a trip woman cannot make because you have to think about the long run and how these men traveled. leaving Spain they already didn’t have enough supplies to make the whole trip. Then the whole ride is extremely cold then before you get half way you start running out of water and food starts to get low as well. I personally feel like this trip is made for men because this is more a survival trip than it be going to see a new place and if were being honest on a trip like this any lady will be bound to break.

Settling in the new world the hardest part about this journey has too be the boat ride with no question. Because of the time spent at sea I know for a fact I wouldn’t have made it back then. Out the gate they didn’t have everything they needed then the trip took way longer than they expected any way. So if we run out of food half way plenty of people will begin to get sick then after that we run out of water that will basically be torture. Then be forced to drink beer the rest of the way thats terrible I don’t even drink that will be a miserable trip I wouldn’t make it back home where ever we settle was my new home for life either way it goes. If I survive the trip and able to settle on the new land and so happen to run across the natives of the land I will not pose as a threat. I will try to gain their friendship learn their ways of living and how to survive and manage on the new land. Then I will start my new life living in the new world among the natives and we will get along with no problem.

The comparison I’m going to make is not totally that this guy is like John Smith. but it is the concept of how everything happen because of Smith and he did what was right by his team, the cockiness and so on. My celebrity has to be Micheal Jordan in his prime because in this situation everything really did revolve around Jordan. He turned out to be the best man on the court at all times and on his team. Jordan let it be known that he was the best too and it was so many people who loved Jordan and you couldn’t stop it and it was some who hated him as well. Jordan came through for his men every night by showing up ready to play leading them to a victory and it was no question that Jordan had got his team a victory. Everything good that happen to the team only happen because of Jordan.

Right off hand i can remember being in a tornado well when the tornado hit my hometown. I remember earlier that day and how the talk was about how bad it was suppose to get. Well this particular time I really was blowing it off because usually when they say a tornado is on the way we just get bad rain. This was a normal thing so this time I wasn’t doing anything out the ordinary wasn’t going late grocery shopping like i usually would do. I was at the house just watching t.v like any other day i think it could have been around seven o’clock and they said it would hit around ten so I stayed up just to see what would happen ten came nothing happen and it just was raining so I really blowed it off and went to sleep. Around one o’clock I got call a friend was asking if I was ok because the tornado was up the street from me so at this time I panic I wake my parents up like the tornado up the street what we gone do. They was like go back to sleep everything going to be alright. So I’m in my room laying down its raining extremely hard thundering and lightening and all then I hear a loud noise almost sound like a train and it sound like its right by my bed. So at this point I’m freaking out in my head because I’m the only one up in the house I’m like man is it outside and I’m too scared to look. I get another call from the same person they say man the tornado just hit Cody house you good I say yeah. I hear the noise again for about ten minutes and I’m really scared now because Cody stays four houses from me and then the noise stops and I eventually go back to sleep. I wake up leave the house and see al the damage that was down and seen how close it hit to my house and how that could have been me and my family who things were destroyed had me like thank you Jesus that was only GOD.

My impression changed after reading because after so long I started to hate Columbus because of how they used to praise him for finding something that was already in existence. Like I really don’t remember all the other settlers of that time but after reading it Columbus was just a normal man of his time. I can say he wasn’t as bad as the other settlers but he wasn’t a good man he did wrong too. He was set to be in charge by the king and queen of Spain and he sailed to find new land and expand Spain territory. He really thought he was somewhere else but I really believe he later knew he wasn’t where he was suppose to be so I believed he ended up lying to save his tail. He let his brother take over the new land and things went south and he got in trouble. The king and queen took everything from him and sent him to jail. Columbus felt betrayed felt like they was changing the story making it sound worse than what it was and on his last leg he asked to be sent to Rome to do his last voyage.

Coming up in school we had no choice but to learn about the famous Christopher Columbus. I was taught that Columbus sailed around with his crew around the world and he ended finding new areas that never been discovered before. I was told Columbus found America and when he got here he somehow came across the native Americans. The joining of the two is how we got our thanksgiving they taught Columbus and his men how to grow corn and other plants that could be used as food and typically how to survive on the new land. Coming up Columbus was looked at as something like a superhero and we wouldn’t be here without his findings. While I was in elementary I use to love Columbus but as I grew older I started to hate him because he really didn’t find nothing because the natives were already here. So I started second guessing everything like everything they told us was a lie that’s really why I started to hate him.

The Iroquois story and the Christian creation story are very similar when comparing the two. Because they both have a woman as life bringer and in the Iroquois story there were two minds a good and a bad mind. Just like the Christian story there is good and evil and in the story and in both stories there is an ultimate creator who creates the world put living things to go hand in hand with each other. In the story they good and bad mind fights and the good mind create things in the world for the better and the bad minds create things to sabotage the things the good mind created. After this the good mind went back to create things to make everything right so the bad mind began to get jealous because he couldn’t create things like the good mind. So he propose a fight between the two to be one single leader of the world and they both had things that could kill them and they both couldn’t use the tool to kill one another. The good mind agreed and the good mind ended up killing the bad mind with the horns that could kill him and the bad mind died and said he will become the ruler of the minds of the world. In the christian story its the same as the devil being jealous and want to be god and he gets outcast and control the evil things in the world.

My high school didn’t take a field trip anywhere to learn about our local native Americans. I have heard things over the years about our natives. Like I know for our surrounding areas there where Creek Indians, and Cherokee Indians. I know they mainly stayed along the Chattahoochee River and settled around natural waters. The natives are the ones who really taught everyone else how to survive. Before anyone or any findings of a new world the natives where already here and living well for their situation. They grew all there crops came one with the nature they new how to move accordingly to the things in their surrounding areas. They usually hunted with knives and boring arrows they wore animal skin as clothing feathers from birds as a hat. The natives were set up in tribes that were usually ran by a chief and they often did rituals and traditions that were passed on from generation to generation.

Out of everything that has happen in American history there are tons of different things I can talk about. The one that sticks with me right now at this very moment has to be when Barack Obama was elected as President of the United States of America. I remember the days leading up to the election I remember how everyone was excited, and I remember exactly what I was doing the time he won. I think this moment means so much too me because of what it meant for blacks as a whole. Like I remember seeing the joy on my grant aunt’s and my grandma faces like I know I didn’t feel exactly like them but I was able to feel a little of it. We all know how bad things were back in the day for blacks and I remember people playing the MLK speeches about how change would come. I can just think about my life and the times I have came across racism and for once it felt like a change was actually happening.

This is my second year at CVCC and I cant believe I am doing these blogs again. It really isn’t all that hard I just forget to do them everyday and they tend to pile up on me. Then once the load is too heavy I don’t have no choice but to wait until the end of semester too get them all done. At least that’s what happen last year and I found myself at the dead line rushing to get them done. So this year I will change that I will try to do them everyday and be done with the blogs before the end this time around.
